Welding is started on the framework.
Students used a mig welder, and the frame is almost all Chrome-Moly Steel.
The Suspension Components arrive.
Wheels are added to the frame, which starts to take shape.
The final frame pieces and steering column is added.
The aluminum floor supports, plus steel chair supports are added. Nathaniel applies and adhesive to the floor to help hold down the plywood floor.
We move from the school's metal shop out to the abandoned animal barn. This is our new home. It's nice and warm, and there's a lot of room to work.
The plywood floor is installed, along with some front wheel adjustments.
Nick finishes the battery box and Jordan paints the floor a lovely pine tree green color.
Emily and Jordan install brake lines(left) while Nathaniel and a helper strengthen the rear shocks(right).
The walls start going up.
Lots of clamps must be used for attaching each and every wall panel. It was a slow process, but everyone really enjoyed the wood work.
Students start painting(left) and Jordan installs the motor(right).
The roof gets attached with super glue and zip ties.
Solar Panels and Headlights.
We made it to the race and passed all safety inspections. We're in the back of the group photo because we're awesome.
